Julia began her acting career at the Practical Theater Company in Chicago where she appeared in a drama titled ‘The Second City.’

Julia was 21 years when she moved back to New York and got a job in the regular cast of Saturday Night Live, a show in which she remained a part of from 1982 to 1985. She had the distinction of being the youngest female member of the cast at that time.

Julia in 2006 and 2007, hosted episodes of ‘Saturday Night Live.’ making her the first female cast member to return and host the show.

Julia Scarlett Elizabeth Louis-Dreyfus was born on January 13, 1961, in New York City to Gerard Louis-Dreyfus and Judith Louis-Dreyfus. Gerard Louis-Dreyfus is the chairman of the Louis Dreyfus Company and Judith Louis-Dreyfus, a writer and special needs tutor.

She has two half-sisters from her father’s other marriage named Phoebe and Emma and a half-sister on the side of her mother, named Lauren Bowles. This is because her parents divorced in 1962, one year after Louis-Dreyfus’s birth.

As her mother got married when she was four, to L. Thompson Bowles, the dean of ‘George Washington University Medical School’, she spent her childhood in many countries and states as she had to travel due to the nature of her step-father’s work.
